I'm tired of school
It's been a really long day
This was too easy

📖 About this haiku

There's something disarmingly honest here, and the honesty is the whole point. The central image isn't a plum blossom or a frog pond — it's exhaustion itself, plain and unadorned, which quietly argues that ordinary tiredness deserves the same attention traditional haiku gives to nature. The turn arrives in that last line, and it's a wink rather than a twist: "This was too easy" reads first as fatigue talking, then as commentary on the poem's own construction, catching itself in the act of being simple. That doubling gives it a small, satisfying snap on the second read. The mood is end-of-day flatness, the particular gray of a long school afternoon, and the compression works by refusing to dress it up — three plain sentences, no metaphor required, because sometimes tired just means tired, and saying so cleanly is its own kind of craft.
