Nothing you will say
can stop the revolution
burning in my mind
Nothing you will say
can stop the revolution
burning in my mind
There's a nice defiance built into the structure here — the poem opens like a wall going up, all consonants and refusal, before pivoting on "revolution" into something almost tender by the final line. That's the turn: what reads as confrontation becomes interior. It's not aimed at anyone by the end. The fire has moved from the space between two people into a single mind, and that relocation does a lot of quiet work.
The mood runs hot rather than seasonal, more temperature than weather, though "burning" gives it a kind of scorched-earth atmosphere, everything cleared for whatever comes next. What the compression achieves is withholding — we never learn what the revolution actually wants, only that it can't be talked down. That omission is the strength. A longer poem would explain the cause. This one just shows you the certainty, which is somehow more convincing.
