stepping in a field.
flowers everywhere; lovely.
acausality finds itself.

📖 About this haiku

There's something disarming about the plainness here. The first two lines set up the simplest possible pastoral scene — a step, a field, flowers, the flat little verdict of "lovely" — almost childlike in its lack of ornament, like a diary entry rather than nature poetry. Then the third line drops in a phrase that doesn't belong to that register at all, and the whole poem tilts. Acausality is a word built for physics or philosophy, not meadows, and watching it "find itself" among flowers creates a strange, quiet collision between the conceptual and the sensory.

That's the real turn: not a shift in scene but in vocabulary, as if abstract thought wandered into the field alongside the walker and got lost in the same loveliness. The mood stays gentle throughout, almost serene, which makes the intellectual intrusion funnier and stranger rather than jarring. The compression works because it refuses to explain the joke — it just lets the field hold both things at once.
