📖 The answer, explained

The trick here is that every line describes a different face of the same grain, so your mind keeps hunting for one tidy character instead of one humble material. Castles go up when sand is packed wet and molded, the way kids build them at the shoreline. Mountains come down when sand, as the gritty heart of erosion, wears stone to dust over centuries. Blindness shows up when sandstorms sting and blur the eyes, stealing sight rather than giving it. Then comes the twist: sand also gets melted into glass, and glass becomes the lenses in eyeglasses, telescopes, and microscopes, literally helping people see. That one flip from blinding to clarifying is the misdirection snapping shut. Nothing here is a person or tool with intent, just sand acting through natural force and human craft, which is exactly why the riddle works so well.
