📖 Notes & analysis

That question can crack open in so many directions depending on who's asking it and why. Play it as heist comedy — a ragtag crew, a ridiculous scheme involving a llama farm or a lottery ticket, everyone talking over each other about who forgot to factor in tax implications. Or take it somewhere quieter: a parent asking their grown child, voice careful, because the money is for a grandchild's surgery and pride is fighting desperation in real time. There's also the betrayal angle — someone asking because they already know the answer, because they've seen the missing funds, the new watch, the lies stacking up. Try writing it from the person who has to answer. What comes out of their mouth in that pause matters more than the fifty thousand ever will.
