📖 Notes & analysis

There's the grand-adventure version — the family road trip where the car broke down, or the vacation that went sideways before it went wonderful, full of gas-station snacks and arguments about the radio and a view at the end that made everyone go quiet. Or maybe it's smaller and quieter: a single afternoon at a grandparent's house, the smell of a specific kitchen, a porch swing, a game with rules only the two of you understood. There's also the wide-eyed-tourist angle — the first time you saw the ocean, or a city skyline, or snow, and the whole world seemed to tilt open. And don't discount the visit that mattered simply because of who was there — a cousin, a neighbor, a dog that isn't around anymore. Start with the one detail you can still feel, and let the story walk backward from it.
