Do you consider yourself hopeful or cynical about romance? Why?
Your move, writer.
Do you consider yourself hopeful or cynical about romance? Why?
Your move, writer.
Some days this question wants a love story, and it might go stubbornly hopeful — the kind of piece that admits every reason to be jaded and chooses tenderness anyway, maybe through the eyes of someone who's been burned but still leaves the porch light on. Other days it turns comic, a wry catalog of dating disasters and situationship jargon, cynicism worn like armor with a wink underneath. Or take it sideways entirely: skip romance-as-dating and write about the marriages and friendships that quietly prove love isn't a myth, the unglamorous loyalty of people who show up. You could also split the difference — a piece that argues hope and cynicism aren't opposites but companions, two hands holding the same nervous heart. Write toward whichever version feels true today, not impressive.
