Write about how a person can tell if they’re really in love. If you don’t know, write about how you don’t know.

Your move, writer.

📖 Notes & analysis

You could write it as evidence gathering, the narrator building a case like a small trial: the way someone still asks about your dentist appointment three weeks later, the way boredom together feels different from boredom alone. Or take the confession angle, someone admitting they've never been sure, cataloging every relationship they doubted in hindsight, wondering if uncertainty itself is the tell, since the sure ones burned out fastest. There's also the comedic route, a character consulting increasingly bad sources, horoscopes, a fortune cookie, their skeptical grandmother, to answer a question none of them can settle. Or go quiet and physical, love noticed only in the body, the involuntary things, and the narrator trusting the evidence they didn't choose over the words they did.
