Three children are sitting on a log near a stream. One of them looks up at the sky and says…
Your move, writer.

Your move, writer.
One direction: wonder played straight. The child says "Do you think clouds get lonely up there, all by themselves?" and the other two actually consider it, and you get a quiet, funny, tender debate that reveals who each kid is without you ever having to say so.
Another direction: the sky-gazing becomes a hinge for something bigger. The line is really about a parent working late, a move to a new town, a fear nobody's named yet — the clouds are just where it's safe to look while the real thing gets said sideways.
A third: play it for mild mischief. The kid spots something that shouldn't be there — a kite stuck impossibly high, a shape that moves wrong — and the log becomes a launchpad into an afternoon adventure, stream and all.
Let the stream do quiet work underneath whichever way you go — it's patient, and so is this moment.
