📖 Notes & analysis

One way in: write to your hands, the ones you called clumsy for years, and notice how they've been quietly holding things together the whole time, cooking dinners, steadying ladders, catching what falls. Another route is comedy, a mock-formal apology letter to your knees for every joke about their creaking, complete with a solemn vow to stop blaming them for the stairs. Or go tender and specific, a note to your stomach after a lifetime of unkind comments, naming one ordinary moment, laughing until it ached, as proof it deserved better than insults. You might also try the voice of the body part answering back, gracious or sarcastic, forgiving you anyway. Pick one relationship, one memory, and let the apology carry real affection, not just guilt.
