📖 Notes & analysis

The reason this works is that thinking too much is often just fear wearing a thinking costume. You tell yourself you're "planning" or "finding the right angle," but really you're stalling because the blank page feels risky. Words on a page can be fixed. A blank page just sits there, judging you quietly.

So try this: give yourself five minutes to write the worst possible version of whatever you're stuck on. Bad jokes, clunky sentences, obvious ideas. Don't reread as you go. You're not writing the thing, you're clearing your throat.

The catch is that this only works as a starting move, not a finishing one. If you never step back to shape or cut what spilled out, you end up with a lot of words and no piece. Momentum gets you moving. Judgment gets you somewhere worth going.
